The Sunraysia Academy of Sport

The Sunraysia Academy of Sports provides athletes in the Mallee Region with opportunities to excel both in their chosen sports and in life. They offer services such as advanced technical coaching, sport science programs that include strength and conditioning, and educational sessions on psychology, nutrition, hydration, personal development and more.

Their services are structured into two programs: Full Sport Programs and Individual Athlete Support Programs.

Full Sports Programs

The SAS Full Sports Programs are designed to enhance existing sports training and gameplay.

The programs offer specialized training sessions that can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or as a single clinic, tailored to the sport and the athletes’ requirements. These sessions are conducted by highly experienced coaches who are not typically available to local athletes.

Sports that SAS may include in the Full Sports Programs are, but not limited to, Swimming, Golf, Tennis, Soccer, Netball, Athletics, Basketball, AFL, Volleyball, Cycling, and Clay Target Shooting.

Eligibility for the Full Sports Program varies with each sport but may require having played or competed at a representative level.

Additionally, the Full Sports Programs incorporate regular Strength and Conditioning sessions tailored to the athletes’ requirements, as well as fitness testing and educational sessions for athletes.

Individual Athlete Support Program

The SAS Individual Athlete Support Program focuses on supporting athletes with complimentary services, emphasizing Strength and Conditioning and Athlete Education.

The specialized Strength and Conditioning is tailored to each athlete’s age, ability, and sporting discipline. Each program is unique, with athletes working through their personalized training plans under the guidance of experienced coaches.

The Strength and Conditioning component of the Individual Athlete Support Program offers flexibility through a booking system, allowing athletes to find sessions that fit their weekly schedules.

SAS aims to engage highly qualified and experienced professionals to deliver Athlete Education Sessions. These sessions cover topics such as Sports Psychology, Nutrition, Injury Prevention and Management, Rehabilitation, Goal Setting, and more. SAS also seeks to have past and present high-level athletes or coaches share their stories about what it takes to reach the highest level.

Benefits to being part of our programs

  • Access to specialized skills clinics, conducted by experienced coaches.
  • Personalized Strength and Conditioning programs. Each personalized program is considerate of their age, gender, sport(s), experience, peak performance periods and de-training. 
  • Fitness Testing covering sprint, agility, power and long distance.
  • Musculoskeletal screening – conducted by qualified Exercise Physiologists to guide S&C programming and sports specific training. 
  • Access to athlete education sessions, focused on injury prevention, rehab, recovery, sports psychology, media and public relations and more.
  • Membership to aligned leisure for the duration of the program.
  • Membership to Mildura Strength and Performance for the duration of the program.

Branding & Uniform

SAS is aware of the importance of corporate branding and as such we have utilized our corporate colors in the design and production of our uniforms.

Each academy athlete, dependent on the talent development program they are involved in and the program level they are on, receive academy apparel.
